Of special interest...

George served for 6 years on the board of directors of Mountain Top Boys Home. This is a Christian home situated in North Georgia. The boys' home is a safe residential setting with parenting for disadvantaged youth. The mission of Mountain Top Boys Home is to help young boys prepare to take an ethical and responsible citizenship role in their communities. These boys would probably have no other place to go if it were not for Mountain Top.

George has worked as a volunteer for over 20 weekends with Bill Glass Champions for Life. This is considered by most to be the No. 1 prison ministry in the United States if not the world. It is considered by most to be the most productive prison ministry in the nation.

George attended the Walk to Emmaus in 1994. The Walk to Emmaus is an ecumenical spiritual retreat weekend. After attending George was so impressed with the Walk to Emmaus event that he has volunteered and worked weekends on over 20 different occasions. This is also a volunteer event. George has also sponsored over 100 people on the Walk to Emmaus.

Rock Eagle Men's Retreat is a spiritual retreat produced by the United Methodist Men of North Georgia. George as a volunteer again served on the retreats committee for over 15 years. The retreats committee is the body that put together the annual spiritual retreat at Rock Eagle. Up to 1,000 men would attend this event. A significant amount of time goes into the planning, preparation and putting on of the retreat.

George has taught Sunday school in the past. He currently leads a men's Bible study every Thursday morning. He is also involved in the addiction recovery ministry as a volunteer with his wife.  His wife, who is a  Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor is the leader of this ministry.  George spends a lot of time actively working with his wife in the addiction recovery ministry. His wife also works with a group of combat veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). George does not participate in this because he has not been a combat veteran, nor does he suffer from PTSD, but does support his wife in this volunteer ministry.

George also supports Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and has mentored in the local high school football program.
